2BGreen - Recycled Cards - 3

Here's another set of 2BGreen set of cards.  I'm glad I ensure these cards are enjoyed another time by new set of eyes.  These cards are made from elements from cards sent once already.  I find card stock and other elements to make them into something new.

Here's one that's perfect for a young person's birthday.

Some of these cards have a wonderful soft watercolor feel to them which I just love.  This last one I cut the scallop border with the Stampin Up Scallop Border Edgelit.  It's great because I used the back of the card which matched the card stock perfectly.

2BGreen - Recycled Cards

Here's another set of 2BGreen Cards which are a line of cards I created to use the cards I've been given from friends who just could not throw away the cards they had received.  They just need a bit of something to make them useful again.

I was fortunate to find the color of card stock I needed to match the images. The one above I added purple buttons.  The oval flowers was die cut with TM Holtz oval mover and shaper then mounted on white layer embossed with the Cuttlebug Oval frame embossing folder. Oval was mounted with 3D foam tape.

These are great images I'm glad they will be enjoyed by another person.

Photo - Bed & Breakfast

I stayed in a Bed & Breakfast on the weekend and it was such a nice experience.  The host Bev is warm and friendly and a great cook.  It's the Heritage House.  The house is filled with vintage furniture.  It has 3 rooms for rent.  Check it out if you are in central Alberta.

Birthday Flower

I made this card for Mom who is celebrating a milestone birthday this month.

I started with a neutral taupe card.  I adhered a piece of pink mulberry paper with gold accents with snail adhesive so it would not show through the thin paper.  I cut the Sizzix Daisy #4 flower twice to show both sides of the paper. It has flowers on one side and green pattern on the other.  I added a gold Prima flower and a deep pink flower onto the pink brad and placed in the center of the flower.  I stamped the birthday greeting in the right hand corner with Tea Green ink.  I added a tiny brad in the same color as the flower in the "i" of birthday.

My Grandmother's Paintings - Set 2

This is the second half of the year in the calendar. She painted many different subjects and in several styles.  I believe she took some lessons but she started painting late in life.  These are great reminders of her and things that meant a lot to her. We had the calendar professionally printed and bound with the photos being 8x10 which can be framed or matted once the year is over.  That several more family members can enjoy the paintings.  I'm really happy with the way the project came together. Thanks to all who bought a calendar.

This one on right is the one we used for the cover.
This is the laser color printed calendar on white 8.5x11 card stock.  It was not bound and could be hung with a bull clip.

My Grandmother's Paintings - Set 1

For the last year I have been photographing my grandmother's paintings for a calendar fundraiser. I have traveled the province and others from farther a field have provided digital files via drop box.  I collected 24 photos and choose 12 to put into a 2015 calendar with 8x10 pictures which can be framed once the year is over.  It was exciting to have people browse through the calendar and see what other work she had made.  She passed away quite a few years ago and some of her paintings were distributed at that time. She painted commissions as well and we don't know where those are have landed.  These are the first 6 months of the calendar. The next set tomorrow.

I've enjoyed the process and we have almost enough to do another calendar when we meet again in 3 years.

Family Get Together - Art Class

I just got back from a family get together on the weekend.  We had a great time with about 60 in attendance. There were great conversations with those from near and far and great food!
We had bingo games, raffle draws, a calendar fundraiser (more about that later), baseball, and an art class.
My aunt who is an artist held a class Saturday afternoon and I was one of the students.  This is my very first painting.  This was done with acrylic paints.  We did some charcoal doodles as practice to engage our right brain. Then  we sketched what we wanted to do on the canvas then we laid it out in the drawing in light grey to get all our elements in place then she gave us colors and we went for it.  I think we had about 12-15 folks paint canvas by the end of the afternoon.  It was a blast!!

Alphabet Photo Frame - NOEL

I made this frame for an event I'm attending soon.  It's a donation for the fundraising efforts.
I started with a wooden black frame.  I printed my photos 3" square and it spells NOEL. I mounted them to a piece of black card stock.  As the frame is not exactly square I have a wider border on left and right.  I then mounted it to a piece of scrapbook paper in a neutral taupe with a damask pattern that works with the photos.  I added spaces to the edges so that the photos would not be right against the glass.

Cards- Damask Top Note

I made a couple of these cards for my exchange group.  I started with cards I bought at a craft store.  They were thermal embossed black on white.  As soon as I saw them I knew what I would do with them.  Paint them of course!  I used Tim Holtz Distress Stain and rubbed it all over then wiped it down to bring out the shine on the embossing.  This color is TH Victorian Velvet.  I cut the decorated piece and a solid piece of black with the Stampin Up Top Note die.  I then trimmed the decorated one on the stitched die cut line and mounted it onto the black one. I cut these in half cross ways and used half on each card.  I dyed the small silk flower with the same distress ink then mounted a large white silk and the small onto the half of the Top Note.  All held in place with a black mini brad.  I stamped the greeting in the right hand corner with a clear stamp and Versafine Onyx ink.  Added a bling rhinestone on the i in birthday.
What can you find that allows you to change it and make it your own?

AB Royal Museum - Western Threads

I visited the Alberta Royal Museum recently specifically to see one of their feature exhibits called Western Threads. This exhibition brings together the remarkable work by members of the Focus on Fibre Art Association, the Heritage Rug Hookers of Saskatoon and the Studio Art Quilt Associates, Western Canadian Branch.
Over 100 fibre art pieces are featured in the Western Threads: Contemporary Fibre Art exhibition.

One of the arts presented were Fabric Postcards.  There were quite a few of them and I chose 3 of them to show here.  They say we can get involved!
Here`s a link to how we as Albertans can make a fabric postcards and mail it to the museum and they will put it on display!  Here`s more details.

Here`s a sampling from each of the groups participating.  The quilt in the top left is called `Not so black and white`by Cathy Tomm - Leduc.  The Grain Elevator rug on the top right is called `Winter Solitude`by Ian Hague Regina Saskatchewan, and the bottom right hand is `Roundabout`by Dianne Kyrs.  The picture to the left of this one is a close up of a acrylic flower she had put on one of the circles. It had all kinds of  embellishments.  Very cool!

A great afternoon!  I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Check it out if you have a couple hours. On this display till August 4 2014.

R2G Christmas DSP Split - Tradition Medley

Another set of Ready 2 Go Christmas Card kits.  I started with heavy double sided designer paper.  I choose red and green card stock to coordinate with it.  I cut the DSP to 4 x 5.25" then cut again at 3".  The smaller piece was flipped then they were reassembled with tape.  I matched it with some pearly ribbed ivory ribbon over the join and taped ends to the back.  I made the greeting with 3 layers. Scallop oval, gold smooth oval and a color printed greeting punchie. I started with a greeting I found on-line and changed it and colored it to match the paper. These were layered then adhered to the card front with 3D foam tape.

DSP: Authentique Tradition  Medley
Scallop Oval: SB Large #3
Smooth Oval: SB Large #3
Greeting: Free Greeting from Bird's Cards

R2G - Dashing MC Apothecary

Another Ready 2 Go kit - this time in the SU Style.
I chose green and red card stock which coordinates with the designer paper.  I designed the greeting with a couple digital stamps and several other elements then I printed it onto vellum. The greeting matches the card color. I cut the vellum and the vanilla card stock at the same time so everything would match.  I punched slots on either end of the die cut with the slot punch. I matched the ribbon to the card color and taped it to the back of the designer paper.  Adhered the completed layer to the card front.

DSP: Dashing

Ribbon: Tafetta - Real Red / Old Olive - matches card
Die cut: Apothecary Framelits

R2G Card Kit - Vintage Skate

I cut the Tim Holtz Ice Skates die from off white heavy card stock. I highly recommend using a heavy card stock as it gives a much better end product.  I painted the blade with Gleams Acrylic Paint by Delta - Silver as it has a warm tone.  I chalked the skate with brown with heavy application on the heel and light around the edges of the skate.  I used brown thread as laces. You can see here how to use the dental floss threader and lace the skate.  I rubbed the edges of the Joy background card with Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Gathered Twigs. Wrap the ribbon around the Joy background and knot to the front. Trim ends.  Cut the 3D foam tape into three pieces and place one at the cuff, heel, and toe.  Adhered the skate as shown.

2015 An Alberta Road Trip - Updated

I made some updates to my 2015 Photo Calendar. I replaced the January photo because the night shot of Muttart just was not up to the quality I wanted. I re-edited the pick up truck photo and reprinted.

Glittered JOY

I selected a teal card. I applied some double sided tape to the Stampin Up Top Note of vellum.  I pressed the red letters on to adhesive then pressed some Halo Glitter around the letters and brushed off the excess.  I mounted the top note high to allow for the red poinsettia flower in the center below the o in joy.  I added a silver metallic ribbon under the flowers and flagged the ends.  I adhered these layers including a silver flower sequin with a tiny black brad.

Joy Banner

I'm using left over supplies from my previous cards.

The letters were cut with the Cricut from cherry metallic card stock with the Creative Memories Tiny Treasures cartridge. I selected a green card.  I diecut a Stampin Up Top Note from vellum.  I adhered it to the card front with a line of snail adhesive that will be covered by the ribbon.  I laid the silver metallic satin ribbon across the middle of the card.  The ends are taped to the inside of the card.  I mounted the 3 letters with 3D foam tape. Here are the cards I made earlier.

Vellum Accent Christmas Cards

I made some of these cards from my June Stack class because I just loved them. I like the softness of the images against the boldness of the JOY background.
The images printed on the vellum are all my own designs.  They are color printed and cut down to 2.75" wide.  It is wrapped top and bottom over the kraft and white printed background.  I wrapped some silky cream thread around this layer and tied it off. Then I mounted it to a white card.  I made 8 of these for my own stash of Christmas cards.

Card - Christmas Houses

I'm trying to translate some of my supplies into actual cards.  This designer paper is rows of houses and after thinking about it this card came to me.  The paper is by Webster Pages - Main Street. I printed the greeting onto white and cut it to leave a wider border then I cut down the row of houses to leave another border.  Easy Peasy!!

Check here for the Ready 2 Go kit.

Card - New Merry Christmas Die

I bought this die yesterday hot off the press!  I went looking for samples but it's too new, so here's mine.
I started with cutting the Memory Box Grand Merry Christmas Script die in turquoise.  I cut the branch with the Tim Holtz Bird Branch Bigz die in the same brown as the card.  I layered it onto the blue and trimmed the edges. I layered it onto a white piece that left a small border of the brown card.  I cut the MB Resting Birds die in red card stock a couple of times.  It cuts 5 small birds at a time.  I placed the birds around the card as I wanted. Love the card.
I'm submitting it to

Christmas Card Challenge - July - Background

The challenge for July is a technique challenge to create a background.  A few options to create a background are: brayer, sponged, stamped, watercolor, stenciled, spritzed, marbled, spattered, word, ink spot and many more.  Which will you choose?
You will see that I used the decorative paper I made a while ago. This paper is non traditional shades of Christmas colors.  Pink and green was a bit of a challenge to work with.  When searching the web I kept find these old cards from the 40-50's in this color combo with usually silver or sparkles added so I added silver.  I had saved these reflectors from mini lights a while back and it was just the silver foil look I needed.  I layered my decorative paper onto black to tone it down a bit.  I wrapped a piece of silver cording around this layer then adhered it to the card front. I adhered the foil scallop circle then a bright pink snowflake then a pearl white snowflake punched with the MS punch. All held in place with a repeat of the color black and silver in the form of a tiny silver sequin and tiny black brad. I designed the greeting for the Stampin Up Decorative punch and printed it on some of the same pearl white card stock.  It was then punched out and mounted over the silver cord with 3D foam tape.

Bright Thank Yous

I made a couple of cards for the girls I met with last night.  Thanks Char for hosting and Gail for showing.  Char blessings to you as you start a new chapter.

I started with an orange card and layered onto it coordinating papers in bold patterns and bright colors.  It's the Dots and Dashes designer paper from Stampin Up. I cut both pieces to 4x 5.25" then cut them again both across the width. I reassembled them with a piece of both patterns which I taped together then adhered to the card front. I layered a strip of white card stock over the join. I stamped the greeting in Only Orange.

On the other one I placed the greeting wide.  I punched a Decorative Label punchie from green card stock then stamped the greeting in Handsome Hunter on white and punched it with the Word Window. The greeting is mounted with 3D foam tape.
