Work Space Clean Up - Cards

I've been working on excavating my desk from left overs from projects in the last few months.  I found these leftovers from this project.  The teapot was cut with the Cricut - Folk Art Festival cartridge.  Then I added a layer of card stock to which I added a punched border with a Martha Stewart punch.  The blue card stock matched the blue in the DSP very nicely. I need to get back to it.

Christmas Image Swap 2014

I created these black on white stamped images for a Christmas Image Swap on one of my on-line groups.  The top one is Joy to the World - InkyDinkyDo.  I like the calligraphy words.  The one on the right is Angelica - Stampendous.

While I was stamping I made a few for myself so keep an eye out for what cards I make with these.

Simple Christmas Angel

I made a few of these for my own Christmas card box as it is not as full as it should be at this time of year.
The card is Stampin Up True Thyme.  The wings were cut in brushed gold with the SU Elegant Bird die and embossed with the SU Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  The skirt was cut from SU Holiday Thyme DSP. The head is a 1" circle punchie in Very Vanilla.  The greeting was stamped in Always Artichoke with the MC from the Come to Bethlehem set on Very Vanilla. It was clear embossed.  It was then punched out with the SU Modern Label punch. Another punchie of the same shape was made from the same color card stock as the card.  This punchie was split in half lengthwise, the centre bump at both ends was snipped off and they were adhered behind the greeting offset top and bottom. The greeting and head were adhered to the card with 3D foam tape.

R2G Card Kit - Simple Angel

Another Ready 2 Go Card Kit - SU Style.  I started with Holiday Thyme DSP which I cut into triangles. These are 3" W and 4" T.  This makes maximum use of the 12x12 sheet of DSP. They could be a little taller.  I cut the wings from brushed gold card stock 2 a time with the metallic facing itself using the Stampin Up Elegant Bird die. I embossed them with the Northern Flurry Textured Impression embossing folder. They were taped together ensuring that they were not too wide for the card. I punched the heads with a 1" circle punch from Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped the greeting on Very Vanilla with the MC stamp from the Come to Bethlehem set in Bravo Burgundy for the red and Always Artichoke for the green since I did not have either ink color for the card stock used. I then clear embossed them.  I punched a Modern Label punchie from the same card stock as the card, split it in half lengthwise and snipped off the center bumps from both ends. I glued each half offset from the top and bottom of the greeting punchie. Once I had aligned the skirt onto the wings leaving enough room for the head I turned them over carefully and taped them together. They were then glued to the card front.  I mounted the head as planned with 3D foam tape and the greeting likewise at the bottom of the skirt.  The kit includes 2 Cranberry Crisp cards and 2 True Thyme cards.

DSP Strip Background - HB

Here's another try at the DSP Strip background. This time I cut the DSP to 4.00 x 5.25 inches then cut the strips at .75" wide.  This worked much better but it's not a scrap buster idea because you need a large piece to start.  You can see that having a centre strip the opposite color of the end ones works well.
Once the strips were cut I laid them side by side and taped them together on the back.  I rubbed the edges with an dark green ink pad to add definition. I wrapped a piece of moss green satin ribbon across the bottom half and taped the ends to the back. I then adhered this layer to an ivory card. I used a SU Decorative Label punchie with a greeting which I rubbed it's edges with a pink ink pad. I added a velvet hydrangea and smaller silk flower to the top left hand corner held in place with a green mini brad.

2BGreen - Recycled Cards - 4

Another set of 2BGreen cards made from recycling/reusing elements from cards received from others.  This is a gift for a friend with a birthday.  The card on the left I trimmed then added a Stampin Up Decorative Label punchie from the same card so it matches perfectly. Added a Word Window greeting.

The one to the right is a great image of a tea cup.  I just brushed it's edges with an ink pad and left it blank to be used for any occasion.

Roses are always a favorite.  The dark accents are gold so I punched a SU Decorative Label punchie in gold and added a word window greeting. Mounted to a pink card.

The card front was trimmed to leave a small border and adhered to a golden yellow card.  I added a white and then golden yellow silk flower in the top right hand corner held in place with a tiny black brad.
This great watercolored violets image was trimmed and layered onto a purple card.  I created a band with the same card stock then added an oval greeting mounted with 3D foam tape.

Card - Butterfly Birthdays

I made these cards for my monthly card exchange.  I was working on a concept for a background.  I cut stripes of double sided paper on my paper cutter then reverse every other one and reassembled the piece.  The math did not quite work out so I ended up with only 6 strips instead of 7 which is an odd number and would have worked better.  I will have to work on it some more.  I cut down the piece to get proportion I needed for the card.  Layered it onto a coordinating piece of card stock and then added to the orange card front.  I added a Martha Stewart butterfly punchie in the top left hand corner and a stamped greeting in the bottom right. I used a corner punch to add a bit of something to the rectangular greeting.

R2G Card Kit - Noel

Another card kit, this time with Stampin Up elements.  I watercolored with a paint brush, chipboard coasters with reinkers in Glorious Green and Real Red. Once dry, I cut the letters with the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies. I embossed the bottom of the card with the Petals a Plenty embossing folder.  I added a .75" strip of Whisper White with red and white zigzag washi tape on it.  I added a piece of Glorious Green 1/4"gross grain ribbon across and taped the ends to the inside of the card.  I tied on a shorter piece with a knot. I adhered the NOEL chipboard letters above the strip.

R2G Card Kit - Vellum Nativity with Music

Another Ready 2 Go Christmas card kit.  I used the same sketch as my Christmas Challenge.

I made these different colors so as to offer some variety.  Black, purple, turquoise and navy.

The clip art nativity is printed on vellum and trimmed.  The sheet music is printed on white card stock and trimmed just a bit smaller. This is mounted to a color coordinated card.  The greeting is printed and color coordinated to the card as well.  I have flagged the ends and mounted it to the vellum with 3D foam tape.  The double sided tape for the vellum is hidden behind the greeting to ensure it does not show.

Card - Letterpress Greeting

I've been thinking and researching letter press blocks lately.  I'm not sure why yet but it will become clear sometime.
I found a font but I was not sure it was going to give me the antique, vintage look that blocks which have actually been inked would have.  It's also not reversed letters which actual letter block would be. I thought I would give it a try anyway.
The font is LD Letterpress Inverted.  After designing a background with a old wooden boards photo I added the greeting. I color printed it on white then layered it on white leaving a tiny border. I then mounted it on a medium purple card with 3D foam taper. It still needed something so I added a bling rhinestone to the dot in the exclamation mark and traced the it and the H and B with my glitter gelly roll pen. Hard to tell in the photo.  I'm happy with the look but not quite

R2G Card Kit - Peace on Earth Dove

This card kit is designed with double sided designer paper called "Peace" by Authentique.  It has a great felt finish and nice weight.
I cut the DSP to 4 x 5.5" landscape and cut it again at 2.5" from the top so the dove piece was larger.  I turned over the smaller piece and tape them back together on the back.  I cut a strip of card stock which matched the card 5/8" and adhered it over the join and trimmed the ends. I glued this layer to the card front.  I cut the dove with thin die by Dee's Distinctively Dove Right from ivory card stock. Assembled the dove as the back wing is cut separately. I glued the dove over the card stock strip. I assembled the greeting which was a color printed greeting punched with the Stampin Up Word Window Always Artichoke and the Modern Label punch from the same card stock as the card.

R2G Card Kit - Joy to the World Music

I have another R2G card kit ready.  This one is Christmas in some what non traditional colors. I chose glitter music card stock then searched for a paper which would coordinate with it.  I think this Anna Griffin scallop circle paper was a good match and adds a bit of color.  I chose to focus on the pink in the patterned paper but there is some green in there which might work also. I cut the glitter paper to 3.75" square.  Then added the strip of patterned paper to the left. They are tape together on the back then handled as a single layer.  The strip of pink card stock is added and trimmed to the edges.  This layer is then mounted to the pink rectangle layer. This is then added to the black card front.  The greeting is a black scallop circle, with a 1 3/8" pink circle with the color printed greeting on top of that.  This accent is then mounted over the pink strip with 3D foam tape.  This accent is all punched with Stampin Up punches.  The greeting is printed on a warm neutral card stock.

Photo - Bridge at Night

A friend and I went down to the bridge to see it all lit up tonight.  The weather was great and the people were not too many.  It's really nice.

We took the LRT to take shots from it but it travels way to fast to get some decent shots. It did show other colors but the blue ones were the best.

I will have to go again and this time take shot from the LRT bridge which should be a great angle.

Christmas Card Challenge - August - Music

The challenge for August is to use music on your card.  That can include carols, hymns, music notes, carolers, drummer boy and much more.  It can be the background, the focal element, a 3D embellishment.  What will you use?

I chose a music background that I could change it's color.  I gave this one a blue hint of color.  I printed it and trimmed it to be smaller than my card front.  I found the nativity on Image Arcade. I made it navy and printed it onto vellum.  I trimmed it to be a bit bigger than the music background.  I added a color printed greeting at the top.  It was printed on white card stock and then I flagged the ends.  It is mounted to the card front with 3D foam tape.

I think I will make some of these in several different colors.
